ASSISTANT NEWS DIRECTOR

WAOW-TV, 9 News has an opening for an Assistant News Director to lead our team of award-winning, talented journalists in Wausau, Wisconsin.

We are looking for a dedicated journalist to manage newsroom employees and daily content, produce weekday newscasts and contribute to our website and social media accounts. The Assistant News Director would be the primary manager in the WAOW newsroom, reporting to the Regional News Director at WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin.

Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Managing newsroom employees and schedules
• Managing daily content and assignments
• Responding to breaking news and weather
• Leading editorial discussions
• Producing daily newscasts with help from anchors and producing hub in Madison
• Writing articles for website
• Posting to social media accounts

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in a newsroom. Management experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates who are ready for their first leadership role.
